You don't lose the season to one big injury. You lose it to a hundred small ones.

Turf burn. Court rash. The bruise on the kneecap that turns every slide into a decision. The AB-1 is a full-length padded sleeve built so none of that decides whether you play on Thursday.

What it actually costs

Nobody calls a scraped knee an injury. It still changes how you play.

Nobody sees a doctor for turf burn. You just stop sliding. You take the safe angle on the dig. You kneel on one side all day instead of two. Nothing is broken, and you are still playing at seventy percent.

The bruise

It shows up two days later and hurts for a week. Nothing is torn. You just stop going down on that knee.

The burn

Turf and dirt take the skin off. It catches on your trousers, it stings in the shower, and one play reopens it.

The sleeve in your bag

Most people already own one. It's still in the bag because it slid down the first time they wore it. That isn't protection. That's a sock.

How it helps

Three things go wrong. We fixed each one.

1

You stop coming up bleeding

A plain compression sleeve puts one layer of knit between your kneecap and the ground. You slide into second, dive for a dig, drop to a knee on a job site, and come up with the same raspberry, having paid $20 for the privilege.

What we did

Moulded plates across the kneecap and all the way down the shin, cut into overlapping segments so they take the hit and still open with the joint.

2

You stop adjusting it between plays

Most padding is held on by friction against skin. Ten minutes of sweat and the friction is gone. Now the pad is bunched behind your knee and you're fixing it instead of watching the ball.

What we did

Silicone printed into the top cuff in a wave rather than a solid ring. It grips when the fabric is soaked, without cutting a line into your thigh.

3

You forget you're wearing it

Hard-shell pads and hinged braces protect, and cost you exactly the range of motion you need to play. Gear that works is gear you don't think about.

What we did

No hinge, no frame, no straps to tighten. Knit construction that compresses and shields without limiting how far the joint travels.

The knee underneath

Protection is the outside. Compression is what the joint feels.

The plates are the half you can see. The other half is a graduated knit wrapped around the joint, and it changes how the knee behaves under load in four specific ways.

Firmness around the joint

Graduated compression holds the soft tissue around the knee so it moves as one unit instead of shifting under load. Firmest through the joint line, lighter at the thigh and calf, so the pressure sits where the work happens.

Constant feedback from the knee

Continuous contact with the skin gives the joint a steady stream of positional information. It's the reason people describe a compression sleeve as knowing where the leg is without looking at it, and why the first step onto uneven ground feels more deliberate.

Warmth that stays in

The knit traps heat around the joint instead of letting it go. That matters on a 7am field, a cold gym floor, or a January job site, when the knee is the last part of you to feel ready.

Impact spread, not concentrated

Segmented plates take a hit across their whole surface rather than at one point on the kneecap. The joint stops being the first thing that meets the ground.

Who this is built for. People who train, compete or work on knees that take contact and want them supported while they keep moving. The AB-1 is protective sports equipment, not a medical device, and it isn't a substitute for advice from a doctor or physiotherapist about your own knee.
How it's built

Three zones. Nothing decorative.

1

Segmented armour plates

Over the kneecap and down the shin, cut into overlapping scales rather than one solid shell. They take impact on dirt, turf, hardwood or concrete, and articulate as the knee bends.

2

Silicone wave cuff

Printed into the top cuff in a wave, not a continuous band. Holds when the fabric is wet, and doesn't leave a tourniquet line after two hours.

3

Full-length knit with side venting

Mid-thigh to mid-calf, knitted in one piece with no seam crossing the joint line, and a mesh panel on the outer knee so the leg doesn't cook.

If a surgeon told you to immobilise the joint, buy the hinged brace. That row isn't a marketing concession, it's the right answer. The AB-1 is for a knee that has to keep moving and keep taking contact.

Why we're faster

We own the inventory. It's already here.

Almost every padded sleeve advertised to you ships one unit at a time out of a warehouse in Asia. That's why the checkout says 7 to 14 days, and why a size exchange takes most of a month, which mid-season means the whole thing was pointless.

We buy by the container and hold it in Ohio. Your order is picked and handed to a domestic carrier the same business day. Wrong size, wrong colour, changed your mind: the replacement leaves before your return is even scanned.

Straight answers

When to wear it

  • Training, games and practice on any surface
  • A shift on your feet or on your knees
  • Warm-up through cool-down, typically 2 to 6 hours
  • Either leg, both legs, over or under the uniform

When not to

  • Overnight. Compression isn't doing anything useful while you sleep
  • Over an open wound or fresh road rash
  • If you have a circulatory condition, ask your doctor first
  • If a doctor told you to immobilise the joint. You need a hinged brace, not this

Wear it for a season. If you still come off the field bleeding, keep it and take your money back.

Not "if you're not satisfied". Everyone offers that and it means nothing. Our claim is specific, so the guarantee is too. If the AB-1 slides out of position, bunches behind your knee, or lets you get scraped through the plates in normal play, email us your order number. Full refund, and don't ship it back. We're not charging you postage on gear that failed at the one job we gave it.

Questions we actually get
Will it slide down mid-game?
That's the failure the cuff exists to solve. The silicone is printed into the top band in a wave rather than a solid ring, so it grips when the fabric is soaked. Sweat is what defeats a plain sleeve; it doesn't defeat silicone.
Can I actually kneel and slide on it?
Yes, that's the point. The plates run from over the kneecap down the shin and are cut into overlapping segments, so there's real material between you and the surface while the joint still bends freely.
Is it legal for my league?
It's a soft compression sleeve with moulded padding. No hinge, no rigid frame, no metal parts, which is what most equipment rules are written to exclude. Rules still vary by league and level, so if you compete, check yours before game day. If your league turns it away, that counts as a reason to return it and we'll refund you.
Do I need one or two?
A single is one sleeve. The pair is two, one for each knee. Most people who slide, dive or kneel for a living end up wearing both, which is why the second is $20 rather than another $49.
Will it fit under my uniform or work pants?
Under loose or straight-leg pants, yes. This is a full-length sleeve with moulded plates, so it isn't invisible. Under a slim fit it will show a contour. Most people wear it over the leg.
How do I wash it?
Cold water, gentle cycle or by hand, air dry flat. No dryer, no iron, no bleach. Heat destroys the elastic recovery, which is what keeps the sleeve in position.
What if I get the size wrong?
Email your order number and we ship the new size from Ohio the same day. You don't pay for it, and you don't wait for the first to come back. Mid-season, that difference is the whole point.
Will my knee actually feel more stable in it?
That's what the compression is for. The knit holds the tissue around the joint so it tracks as one unit rather than shifting, and the constant contact gives you a clearer sense of where the leg is. Most people notice it first on uneven ground or on the first hard landing. It is support, not a fix: if your knee is unstable because something inside it is damaged, see a physiotherapist.
Does it work for both sport and work?
Yes. The build doesn't change: plates over the kneecap and shin, a silicone cuff to hold position, and a knit that lets the joint move. Whether you're sliding into a base or kneeling on a subfloor, the surface is hard and the knee is what meets it.
How long does one last?
A season of regular use is what we build for, and the plates outlast the knit. What kills a compression garment early is heat, so if you keep it out of the dryer it will hold its shape far longer. If a plate tears or a seam goes inside two years, the replacement cover on this page covers it.
When will it arrive?
Orders placed before 2:00 PM Eastern ship the same business day from Grove City, Ohio. Standard delivery across the continental US is two to four business days, free.
